Homework Grading:
Homework is a must. Homework will be assigned every day. If you want to be a good Algebra 1 student, you must do homework every day to the best of your ability. Your homework is your practice before taking a quiz or a test. Students will have a chance to ask questions about the homework the next day in class. Homework is graded on an effort basis. Every student will start out with a homework grade of 100 points. The only way to lose points is not to do your homework. I will check homework in the first five minutes of class. I’m looking for your attempt to complete the assignment. Homework is practice to find out what you did not understand. After the homework has been checked in, I will take questions from the assignment. Each day you do not do the assignment, you will lose 3 points from your 100.
Example:
Three times where homework was not done during the nine weeks period, would result in a homework grade of 91. The homework grade will count 10% of your final grade for the quarter.
Grading Procedures:
Make up test or quiz policy:
If a student misses a test or a quiz, they need to make arrangements as soon as possible to make it up. They can make the test or quiz up during study hall or pick a day after school. The teacher must ok the time and date. Homework assignments missed due to absences will be checked in one to two days after student returns from their absence.
Students need to ask their questions during the day. Time can be made available from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm for questions. Student must make arrangements with me for this to happen.
