Congratulations to NM Tom Magar of Pittsburgh who won clear first in the 2009 Mountaineer Open with 3.5 points. Dave Iorio took second with 3.0. Martin Montero Kuscevic, Shih-Houng Young and Markle Butcher turned in strong performances of 2.5 points each with Messrs Young and Butcher splitting the U2000 and U1800 class prizes. David Donohoe defeated John Sefton in round 4 to pull equal with the Kentuckian and share first in the Reserve section (U1600) at 3.0 points apiece. Mike Price (2.0) and Matt Richardson (1.5) garnered U1400 and U1200 honors, respectively. Complete results can be viewed on the USCF crosstable.

Eighteen players battled fiercely in the 11th Mountaineer Open, oblivious to the overcast weather which grounded Morgantown’s hot air balloon festival. MCC would like to thank all participants for creating a competitive and enjoyable atmosphere. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
